A Southern Gentleman. Meet wonderful, awesome Aaron. We totally LOVE this handsome, low key tri-colored hound delight. Aaron knows no strangers. He is fast to start wagging his tail and shooting you a smile the minute he sees you coming his way. Excellent with other dogs, Aaron simply goes with the flow and the flow is wherever YOU are!! A perfect house companion, Aaron was recently off site in a foster home for 5 days and from day one, he unpacked his little bag and settled right in. Very respectful of cats, Aaron slowly went about his pet duties in his foster home and enjoyed ending the day curled up in the den near his new friends. With my fine toned rear legs and rippling chest, I am all the rave as I wiggle my tiny little nub tail and sleek jacketed body right into your lap. Easily working a crowded room filled with people or other dogs, I am a master schmoozer. While some may think I am perfectly suited for a life in politics, I am really only looking for a low key job out of the glare of the press and paparazzi. Smartly dressed and a real ladies man! With his sleek, shiny black jacket and dapper speckled knee high white socks, Bandit turns all the heads. As well he should!! Bandit is a happy, smiling fellow who plays really nicely with other dogs. He has already been shuffled through two homes and his last home had a man who was unkind to him so he is still trying to deal with men who approach him and wish to be his friend. His whole body jiggles with excitement and anticipation when he sees visitors coming his way...especially the ladies.... but for now, he is still cautious around men. Bandit is fun, lively and a very huggable fellow. He's young and light at heart and is one of our residents that volunteers will always reach for to take out for a walk. When you go nose to nose with this super gentle, attentive, active fellow, you'll have a hard time missing the double row of scaring around his neck which is likely the result of a shock collar. It's mind boggling to think of Bradley wearing this type of devise but the scars won't lie. While we don't know for sure Bradley's true background, what we do know is that he cares. He deeply cares about people and he loves other dogs. He has big goofy long legs and a stunning cream jacket accented with huge caramel swatches of color. Now think, we have our own fabulous Cosmo right here...LIVE...in Palmyra. Adopted out as a puppy from the local shelter, Cosmo was returned when the family could no longer care for him. Seeing that sad, eager face who loves all people and looking so unhappy behind his new bars, we knew we just HAD to have him. Cosmo is a major people person and will not dare disappoint you!! He is gentle, extremely attentive and is so looking forward to an upscale country lifestyle. Cosmo is a bigger fellow but is able to perfectly manage his extreme hugs and kisses. Don't expect a furry extended paw when we meet. Expect my WHOLE body to wiggle and jiggle with excitement as I entice you to come my way. Once you get close though, I might do huge circles around you as I inspect you and consider "friending" you. During my formative years, I was the victim of a hoarder so my social skills can be hit or miss and folks will tell you I can be apprehensive around new people. I have special quirks like deciding mid walk that I need to plop down and rest and I can also decide that maybe I don't want to go for a walk at all!! By now you are thinking, this is a "special needs" girl. And you know I am. I am a special girl who had a rough start in life but is still willing to bring huge smiles to everyone I meet as they marvel at my huge hula dancing skills. Hello! My name is Dusty and I was one of the "famous" landfill puppies (you might have read about me in the paper), rescued from under a dumpster at the landfill in the summer of 2007. Now that I am over 6 yrs old, I am anxious to find my new forever home. I have some huge fans at the shelter who always pick me first to head out for walks and this makes me feel really good. In fact, you should see my face light up (and it really does!) when I know it's my turn to spend time with you and explore the CFC grounds. Over the last few years I have seen roommates come and go but sadly my forever home has not found me. I can be a bit nervous when I meet new folks but being the curious guy that I am, you better believe me that I will come on over and give you a once over. With my strikingly handsome physique, I am a little more "selective" in giving out my love and kisses as frankly probably everyone wants them! LOL. Adopted in May! Just as cuddly as they come!! Folks love picking me up and loving on me and let me tell you, I LOVE the attention. With fur as soft as velvet and a smile to melt your heart, I'm never much in a rush except to come scurrying over to say hi and hang out by your side. Although I'm a middle aged beagle at 4 yrs, I think you'll feel as though I have traveled the globe and am a bit of an old soul. I have a slight gimp to my right rear leg (an old injury of sorts) so you know life has not always been kind to me. With my big poofy blond jacket and big "hair-do" I could be the Dolly Parton in the canine world! While my singing might be a tad off key, I can tell you my level of affection can hit a very high note. Folks here at the sanctuary respect the work I do on a daily basis. I am the go-to lady in helping the vet tech as she toils away in the office I share with her. I have also been the faithful companion to other dogs who have shared my office space. While I may be THE cutest, petite, armful of golden fur with a high set plumed tail you've ever seen, I am also a lady who will stand her ground and will not be pushed around. I may not be as young as some of those other whipper snappers out there, but I can keep pace with the best of them. Touch Me! When I first arrived at the CFC campus years ago, I had the reputation of being "untouchable" so to ask you to touch me today, is really incredible. As I look back from my formative years where I was trapped in a horrible hoarding situation, I simply could not be more proud of the progress I have made. A touch is now like the best feeling ever!! Every morning, I start the day by slipping on my "big girl" slippers and look forward to sharing my day with people and other dogs. Folks will tell you that I can still be tentative and shy around visitors but they will also tell you that my endearing, round, smiling face simply puts them at great ease. I have shared my life over the years with the love of my life Sundance, a super handsome hound. He and I are almost hooked at the hip so as you consider sweet, "touchable" me, also consider this incredible, loyal fellow. Living life on the fringe! I just know my life has a taken a huge turn and a very good one at that. Recently pulled from a high kill shelter, folks are surmising that I grew up with limited or no stability and as a very young girl did not get much guidance from my person. As a result, some might say I am a bit of a "project dog" in that I will need someone who is pet savvy and very calm and patient. I can tell you that I'm smart as a whip and I really want to reach out and leave the sidelines and say "hi." Perhaps a bit shy when we first meet, lots of folks will focus on my looks and say I have THE most expressive face and incredibly awesome ears. I also hear my jacket reminds folks of a squirrel!! I'm really not the type of girl to kiss on a first date but promise that once you let me give you the once over, I'll gladly let you take me out for a stroll. A Pretty Lady inside and out! Lovely Lulu was once someone's special dog but all of that ended when the dynamics in her home with 2 other dogs changed and suddenly not everyone liked each other and she lost her person. Today, she scans the folks as they come to visit the sanctuary hoping to catch someone's eye. She gently sashays over to meet folks and flashes an eager grin hoping for a belly rub, chest scratch or even just a lap to relax in! A huge people person, Lulu is very doting and loving. Very well behaved and offering up a quick bark as she sits for a biscuit, she is smart, a good listener and very loyal. Classically dressed in her sleek black and tan jacket, Lulu is covered with little "buttons" that when touched will elicit a quick, sweet kiss to your face. She is a staff and volunteer favorite and while her goal might be to steal your heart, rest assured she will gladly offer up hers in return. As lovely as they come?? You bet! Your perfect pet project!! No really!! You've heard of pets who missed out on key socialization at an early age and just never quite got over it??? Well, that's me. Now you know my big secret. Despite the fact that I am still socially awkward and literally shake and quiver with fear even around folks I know, don't let this deter you from giving me a chance. In my world, I have grown leaps and bounds in accepting the kind touch of humans and you WILL see me smile with delight when we are out exploring the trails around CFC. Adopted in April! Lots of curb appeal!! Meet the super handsome, Mickey. Mickey has been a doggy on the go having first been found running along I-95. Today however, he's ready to settle down and land his first full time pet job. He's a very sweet, sensitive fellow who can be a bit shy when you first meet but he is really trying to take that first step forward to make your acquaintance. He's working hard on his mini hula dancing skills and already we are seeing lots of darting smiles and a bit of a dancing tail. It's been a wild ride for this terrific lady! Her person was taken to prison and sadly she too wound up at the prison farm. Shortly after her arrival, she gave birth to a litter of 6 pups. Before the staff realized what was going on, 3 of the pups had already slipped down a drainage pipe. Only one could be saved and then later it died. Today, Molly has now successfully raised a litter of 3 pups who are as cute as the day is long. And Molly is as SWEET as the day is long. Just when she thought her life was under control though, her time was "up" at the high kill shelter who took her in. A very bubbly, affectionate lady, Molly desperately needs a person who can really focus and dote on her. She gets anxious when she is left alone and honestly, you can't blame her. Her life has been so rocky that she just doesn't know what might happen to her next. Molly is wonderful around other dogs and is good in initiating playtime. Initially when I was pulled from a high kill shelter, I was described as low key and maybe even a bit demure, but now that I am comfortably settled in, everyone is seeing the real me. The real me is fun, energetic and ready to go and do! I am still working on my manners as I can be a bit jumpy and in your face, but I am smart and working hard on what is appropriate behavior. When I am not craving human attention, I LOVE playing fetch, tug of war and then quietly nuzzling right by you as I enjoy my new toy acquisition. I'm great with other dogs but be forewarned I will want to play with them so make sure they can handle such an athletic, outgoing fellow. He gets along well with other dogs with the exception of feeding time although if the dogs are his same size he seems to do fine. He ate side by side with my retriever mix until she passed away in August. He likes to play and rough house with other dogs.Rex enjoys going for car rides just to near his people, he also enjoys going on hikes and horseback riding. He is 100% housebroken, UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm and flea preventative. He is also microchipped. He likes nothing more than to lay his head on your lap as you watch TV, read or work on the computer. He is a great dog but needs a home without small children. Always perfectly dressed for any occasion with his sleek black jacket and smart white socks, Ringo is all kissy/kissy as he meets with his fans impressing them with his sitting and limp leash walking skills. A fun and playful guy, Ringo enjoys the creatures comforts of indoor living and is hoping that soon he can round out the "band" in your home. It's funny. The staff call me an "oversized" beagle. How crazy is that? What I know for sure is that I am a very friendly fellow who is used to sharing my love with lots of adults at the same time. Having grown up in an assisted care facility, I was fortunate in being able to meet and greet new people all the time. For over 5 years, I shared my tail wags and love who those who needed it most. More recently, my caregiver had become unpredictable which made me a bit nervous and we felt I would be better suited in a new home. A medium sized tri-colored, well mannered fellow, I am quiet and unassuming and very gentle. Perfectly suited to hang out with other dogs, I am a favorite with the volunteer base as they love to take me out for walks. Golden in so many ways! It's hard not to notice my expansive, thick golden hued jacket! I'm told my tail makes the most magnificent plumed arc over my back. I'm also told that I can be a bit tentative and shy when I first meet folks but hey, given the situation I was rescued from, I think you could understand my cautious side. I have almost grown up here waiting for my person and now that I am in my Golden Years, I have not lost faith that they are out there for me. Red and white and velvet to touch! My name is Winston and folks will tell you I am as sweet as they come. They might also tell you that I can be a bit shy when we first meet, which is true but I am making mighty strides in gaining confidence around folks. Already CFC has taught me that folks only want to love on me. They tell me I am extremely handsome and very distinguished looking. I'm really terrific around other dogs and hanging close by them gives me a great sense of worth and security. I have a couple of volunteer lady friends who simply swoon over me.
